Dressed Looms
Dressed Looms are wrapped sculptures made out of orphaned looms (looms that have been discarded, no longer have owners, or are irreparable or unweavable), yarns and threads. Through careful cocooning, the looms are transformed from a mechanism of production into a resting object. And by bringing to the outside the very material which belonged on the inside of the loom’s body, the works move from one sense of the word “labor” (manual / production labor) to the other (birthing / reproduction).
